COVID-19 Vaccinations and Treatment
Any infections, whether it be viral or bacterial, will illicit an immune response in a healthy individual. Vaccine, by their very purpose, stimulate an immune response which varies from one type of vaccine to another. Rarely a heightened immune response can cause swelling in and around dermal fillers, such reaction is rare and usually self-limiting. The evidence relating specifically to the COVID-19 vaccines is limited and does not reliability indicate the risk or likelihood of occurrence, but the following is recommended:
o Delay treatment until at least 3 weeks after a vaccination or booster
o Avoid treatment if you have a vaccination scheduled within the next 4 weeks
Although there is no evidence for any special precautions or advice regarding treatment with botulinum toxin; some known side effects of botulinum toxin are very similar to that of a vaccine, including headache, flu-like symptoms and nausea. We therefore recommend avoiding booking treatment within two weeks (before or after) a vaccination.
